In the article, Gemma explains how a knee injury sustained whilst doing a charity trek, caused her to have to stop her training which led to dreaded weight gain.

We approached her in December 2016 and asked if she would like to undergo our #CinchSixWeekChallenge where you wear your waist training corset for six to eight hours a day in a bid to lose weight. It worked! She is now back to a svelte size ten and has never looked better!

So how does a Cinch Corset help you lose weight???

Well, for starters, it motivates you and constantly reminds you of your goal. If you have a piece of latex round your core making you look fabulous and a stone lighter, you are going to be motivated to want to look like this in real life! So essentially, it stops you reaching for the last Easter Egg in your stash, it stops you ordering a fish supper and it reminds you to stick to the rules you have laid out for yourself.

This is the best bit. Just by wearing a Cinch Corset, you will look leaner immediately. We have had customers who have reported up to a six inch loss in their waists, just by wearing their corset. You can look a full stone or dress size smaller. This is not only great for your confidence but great to motivate you to move more and eat less.

gemma Garrett 020317.001

Thirdly, it helps you get rid of all the unwanted excess water that us ladies tend to gather round our waists, making us look even larger. How? Well, it helps us sweat it out – voila – a whole lot leaner in just a few hours of wearing the slimming corset. We also encourage our ladies to work-out in the corset for a boost in this process. If you wear a tight garment whilst moving more it is going to make you perspire more, which gets rid of the excess water.

You know how we are all supposed to hold our core stomach muscles in all the time in a bid to strengthen our six pack, but forget after 3 seconds? Well this does the hard work for you. AND if you combine that with your work-out routine, the results will be even better. The friction alone, combined with any kind of weight training can only help you build muscle.

Lucy Evangalista Balance

Are you like two thirds of the population, plagued by lower back pain? No problem, pop your Cinch waist training corset on! Not only does it improve your posture, but it also supports the lower back and relieves pressure. We have had ladies buy a Cinch for the back pain reduction alone. The fact that it makes you look and feel fabulous is just an added benefit. If you have less pain, you are likely to move more, have less excuses not to work out or go for that power walk.

As a nation, we should all be eating a little less and moving a lot more. By wearing a Cinch Corset, you will feel fuller, quicker, thus helping your meal portion control. Wear the waist cinches for up to eight hours a day and that just the evening you have to get through to stay away from the treat drawer!

Belly Binding Post-Baby

It’s long been the celebrity post-pregnancy trend for getting your figure back.

And for women from culturally diverse regions across the planet, it is certainly no fad. It is standard practice for mums-to-be in Portugal, Spain and India to pack a corset in their hospital bag.

Wearing a corset after giving birth can genuinely help the body get back into shape – fact.

Jessica Alba is just one of the global mega-stars who in the past has revealed that she wore corsets after the births of daughters Honor, four, and Haven, one.

And in our humble opinion, her body is absolutely stunning.

Gwyneth Paltrow famously sported one by Agent Provocateur after the birth of her son Moses, now seven.

Our very own product, Cinch Corsets was designed after the owners had their own babies and post-baby bodies to deal with.

And locally, one celebrity who had fantastic results after wearing her Cinch Corset for just six weeks post-baby was TV presenter, Emma Louise Johnston.

cinch corsets

Married for ten years to Jonathan Crawford (40), who owns an independent supermarket in Maghera where the couple now live, she reveals she has been battling with her weight since her daughter Lucy was born…

“I am not one of those women who do a slim, sophisticated pregnancy,” she said.

“I see celebrities and even friends who put on a couple of pounds during pregnancy and then bounce back into shape the day after giving birth.

“Sadly, that’s not me. I put on about four stone with Lucy. I don’t blossom in pregnancy, I balloon.

“I was very conscious of my weight, especially around January when everyone is starting new health regimes, and I felt like I was huge, and of course most people didn’t know I had just had a baby, so I probably just looked fat to them.”
She reveals that with running around after the three little ones and keeping busy and active and joining a spin class at the Train Station Gym in Maghera, the first three stones came off easily enough, but the last stone was stubborn until she found a secret weapon.

“I was offered the chance to try a Cinch Corset by a local company. I had seen pictures of them on Facebook and in magazines and thought it sounded like a good idea and I thought – why not give it a go!”

Emma Louise, typically, embraced the challenge head-on and started wearing her especially fitted corset for seven days a week, from nine to five.

“I instantly felt better about myself. It gave me great posture and pulled me in, so I looked better, too. Also, wearing it I became very mindful of what I was eating and I started to eat much healthier food and make better choices.

“With the corset on it would feel tighter when I was full, so I would know when to stop eating. Beforehand my brain was slow to comprehend when it was time to stop eating, as I have a huge appetite and love my food.

“Friends started commenting on how well I was looking when I was wearing the corset and I knew it made a difference to my shape.”

Six weeks on and Emma Louise is delighted with the results – she has lost three inches on her waist, the stubborn extra pounds have shifted and she is down two dress sizes to a stunning size 10 again. “I am ecstatic at the success of the corset and think it has given me an hourglass figure. I am curvy and will never be super thin, but I feel so much more confident about my body shape. It accentuates my waist and my whole body shape has changed,” she reveals.

Emma Louise .001

So, how does it work?

Quite simply, Cinch Corset’s product compresses the stomach and ‘holds it in’ to create instantly slimmer results.

The unique latex material can also help to attack unwanted fat and impurities within your body. The micro-massage created within your body will allow your body to rid itself of harsh toxins and impurities, through increased perspiration.

The strong compression fabric will help strengthen the core, working it continually, all the while improving your posture, reducing back pain and relieving pressure.

While wearing a Cinch Corset the tight compression can also encourage you to reduce food volume intake, which will help achieve the healthier practice of smaller meals, more often, rather than three large meals a day.

The right kind of pressure
Fastened over the post-pregnancy tummy, these garments are clasped together with hooks and eyes and are surprisingly comfortable, as long of course if you wear the right size for your body. But why on earth stuff your wobbly tummy into super-tight clothing?

‘There are two key reasons why they may be of benefit,’ says Clive Spence-Jones, consultant gynaecologist and obstetrician at The London Clinic.

‘I am frequently asked about these garments, and I’ve never said no to a patient. During pregnancy the rectus abdominus – the muscle running down the centre of the abdomen – separates, and leaves a crescent-shaped hole.

‘Over time, these muscles need to come back together again. I think these corsets help push them together a bit more quickly.’

Back to Normal
‘They may also give support to the back, help with posture and encourage the muscles to work properly,’ says Jennifer White, women’s health specialist at BMI The Sloane Hospital. But what about weight-loss?

‘There is a great deal of anecdotal evidence about this, but no clinical evidence as yet,’ says Mr Spence Jones. ‘However, the more quickly your stomach muscles go back together, the faster you will regain your figure.’

‘Improving posture and pulling in stomach muscles will make you look thinner,’ adds Jennifer. ‘In terms of losing fat long-term – that’s still down to exercise and diet.’

‘I can’t think of any contra-indications but check with a medical professional,’ says Mr Spence-Jones. ‘But it is likely to be very uncomfortable post-caesarean. Don’t ever feel pressurised into getting your figure back.’

On the Continent, packing a girdle into the hospital bag is standard practice, as Harriet Campina, 40, who lives in Portugal with her husband and two children, Amelia, seven, and Nico, 18 months, discovered when she gave birth to Nico in Portugal (Amelia was born in the UK).

‘I noticed a girl in the Portuguese hospital strapping a huge belt around her waist as she got dressed,’ she says. ‘I went straight out to buy one.”

‘It wasn’t that comfortable – but every day when I removed it, I could see that my stomach had gone down. The more it deflated, the further I tightened it.”

After six weeks, she was at a fancy-dress party in a size ten dress. ‘I thought it was incredible. It took me four years to go back to my original weight after having Amelia.’

Benefits of a corset post-baby…

Waist Training : Can you Cinch yourself slimmer?

As we flick through the pages of glossy magazines such a Vogue, Marie Claire and Cosmo we look enviably at the flat stomach and ‘cinched’ in waist of celebrities such as Kim Kardashian, Lily James and Jessica Alba…we wonder in awe, how do they achieve that hourglass shape?

Answer….a combination of a healthy diet, workouts and waist training corsets!

So what is this corset trend and what does it involve?

Waist trainers the most talked about celebrity trend that can help you look fantastic in your clothes, and if used SAFELY, can actually help you shift pounds and change your body shape.

Corsets are not a new phenomenon, women have been wearing corsets for hundreds of years to give them a a cinched in waist and correct their posture. The difference in our modern era is that our corsets are specifically designed to train your waist as well as instantly reduce your waist size. and the very best bit of all, they are super comfortable!

So how do you ensure you waist train safely?

Well…like everything, first and foremost, use your common sense…

1) Get the right size for your body – if you wear a corset that is too small for your body and it could damage your body. Consult our sizing chart and if it arrives and it is too small – return it for the right size

2) Start by wearing your waist training corset for 2 hours for the first day, three the next, and build it up to a maximum for 6-7 hours per day

3) If you have any underlying health issues, contact your doctor before using

4) If it hurts you in any way, or restricts your breathing, remove it. You are most likely wearing the wrong size for your body

5) Don’t wear it if you are pregnant – (of course!)

From the moment you slip on the corset you are reducing your waist size by up to 6 inches and the more you wear it the better the results!

Taylors get Cinched.003

As mentioned, getting the perfect fit is key so firstly check our size guide or get fitted by one of our team and then decide if you would rather have the everyday corset which is slightly more flexible or the classic corset which is so robustly built but yet remarkably comfortable when on. The latter will demonstrate greater results.

Start your routine of wearing your waist slimming corset gradually, and listen to your body. If you feel uncomfortable, loosen or remove the corset immediately – it should never feel too tight, sore or too restrictive. We recommend building up the wear of the corset to between 6/7 hours daily for maximum results. If you have any underlying health issues, please do check with your health physician.

The Cinch Corset has many benefits such as aiding weight loss, tightening and improving the tone of the skin on the abdomen area, reduces bloating, improving posture and back pain and minimises appetite and portion size. And the best bit….it also makes you look like you have dropped a dress size instantly, boosting confidence and inspiring a healthier lifestyle.

For permanent, long-term results the waist trainer should be used in conjunction with a healthy balanced diet (and drinking lots of water!) and moderate exercise.

So what’s stopping you?

Jump aboard the waist training bandwagon and say ‘yee haa’ to a cinched in waist and ‘see ya’ to a bloated belly!

How to Waist Train

Waist training has become a global phenomenon. But just what exactly is involved in the process of  wearing a waist training corset? It is quite simply the reduction of your natural waist size and emphasising curves with the aid of waist trainer, waist cincher, waist training corset or boned corset – all different names for essentially the same garment that we have had specially manufactured with the utmost comfort and results in mind, the Cinch Corset – one of the world’s top-selling brands favoured by celebrities and public alike.

The idea of using an actual corset to lose weight seems old-fashioned and almost quaint, but the concept behind “waist-training” remains popular and is very much “in vogue”. Many celebrities including Kim Kardashian, Khloe Kardashian, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jessica Alba, Jennifer Garner and Lily James (that’s how she got into that fantastic Cinderella frock!) are all rumored to have used waist training corsets to slip back into their skinny jeans fast, and these fantastic products are often recommended for women who’ve just had a C-section as a way to help ease the pain during recovery and a way to help knit the abdominal muscles back together quicker than going au natural.

Over a period of time, your body will alter as you pull in at the waist.

Whilst this is a semi-permanent effect from constant compression on the abdomen area, the more you wear your waist trainer (wear during exercise to actually boost the results), the faster the long-term results will be, which include a smaller waist and even weight loss (if you continue to eat smaller meals and move more).

Other benefits of wearing a Cinch Corset include back support, a constant reminder to eat smaller meals (we could all do with that, lets be honest), your stomach fat will be held in (boosting your confidence) and you will also see your boobs lifted while wearing the product.

You can learn how to train your waist to be shaped like an hourglass. The truth is anybody can. Waist training works. Countless before and after pictures have become live testimony for women everywhere; waist training is the way to beautiful curves. Check out our results here:

Before you set off to jump on the waist training wagon, determine if it is for you. The easiest way to do this is to take a trial run with the Cinch Waist Training Guide.  Stick to the rules and you should start to see results in as little as seven days!

Cinch Corsets wants you to enjoy your #waisttrainingjourney. It is important to pick out the right kind of waist trainer. If you are starting out, choose the best latex waist trainer with good boning and an adjustable 3 hook-and-eye front closure. These three requirements are necessary for desired results.

Notice that every waist trainer is different. There is a variety of blends in fabrics, boning and in closures. A steel-boned waist trainer is recommended over plastic boning. The major difference between these too is durability. Steel boning is tougher than plastic; it will increase the lifespan of your waist trainer.

Your waist trainer should fit tight enough to pull your waist in on the 3rd hook closure.

It should have enough structure to not roll over the waist (this is a sign the waist shaper is too small).

Your waist trainer should not interfere with your breathing and you should not experience any pain.

The garment is going to feel uncomfortable until you get used to it. This is why you gradually build up to wearing the trainer for longer periods of time.

The shaper should close properly with no bulging.

Always break in your waist trainer for a more comfortable fit.

Measure your natural waist – often the smallest part of your waist. This is the waist measurement you need to deduct to get the right size for your needs and waist training goals.

Size Guide Cinch

Once you purchase your waist training corset, you should now follow these seven day guidelines:

Day One:

After breaking in your waist trainer, wear the slimming garment for just two hours the first day. This amount of time can be adjusted according to individual needs. You can opt for 2 or 3 hours during the first 3 days.

Day Two:

Wear your waist trainer for 4 hours today. If you are a beginner, be prepared to feel constricted. Your body will become accustomed to it quickly. Don’t push yourself and listen to your body – if you feel any kind of pain or pinching, remove the waist trainer.

While wearing a Cinch Active waist trainer, try to begin an exercise program, like Pilates, Yoga or basic stretching to prepare the body for lengthier exercises. Even a power walk is fantastic and will see you lose inches fast!

Day Three:

Today waist training time limit is 6 hours. Keep doing stretches and try to incorporate 12 minutes of cardio.

At this point, you can increase your waist training to more. If you are accustomed to the waist trainer, you can choose to wear it for 8 hours. Until you get the routine of wearing your shaper, do not sleep or exercise with the garment on. The longer you can comfortably wear your waist trainer, the more dramatic the results.

Day Four:

By now you should be wearing your waist cincher for 6-8 hours a day.

The best benefit of wearing a waist trainer is how the compression affects your eating habits. You will notice when you are wearing your trainer that you are unable to eat larger meals because your stomach is constricted. This is another healthy advantage in these waist trimming products.

Day Five:

When waist training is paired with healthy eating and exercise, the results are stunning. The waist trainer is a strong tool to use for weight loss encouragement. It also will give you confidence to adopt a healthier lifestyle.

Your goal today should be 6-8 hours of wear – each individual is different and you can decide when you have trained long enough. Push the cardio to 20 minutes, and eat well.

Day Six:

By now, you should feel more comfortable in your waist trainer, and noticing the waist trainer is getting loose in fit. Tighten the closure if your waist trainer is slipping. This is a good sign.

Stick to 6-8 hours today. This is the goal for wearing a Cinch waist training Corset. If you can wear it for 6-8 hours a day for at least 6 weeks, and incorporate proper eating and exercise, you are going to absolutely love what you see. The results are amazing. Check out TV personality Emma Louise Johnston’s #Cinch6WeekChallenge here:

Day seven:

You managed to complete the 7 days and you are now wearing the waist trainer for 6-8 hours a day. You are also eating less, and eating better. Ideally, you are getting accustomed to brief exercise moments and are now ready to do more intense cardio and strength training programs. If not, keep going with the little steps, any exercise is going to be beneficial to looks and health.

Keep in mind every woman’s body is different. There are many factors which determine how fast your waist will shrink. Women who have a bigger waist seem to see visible results earlier then say, a woman who has little fat or is extremely toned. Remember, you are ‘training’ your body to reshape; this can take consistency and time.

Good luck and enjoy your #CinchWaistTrainingJourney

So, first things first….

  1. Goals get results! Set your self a goal and a time frame. If you don’t know where you are going, how are you going to get there? So, you want to lose 12lbs in six weeks. That’s achievable. That’s 2lb a week. If you have a size 10 dress to get into in six weeks time, hang it in your bedroom where you can see it every day, this will be a constant reminder of your goal and remind you to stop reaching for the snack cupboard! Or, if the snack cupboard is your enemy, why not pin a photograph of a body you respect and long-for on the cupboard door. What this is saying is ‘STEP AWAY FROM THE SUGAR!’

  1. Get a Cinch Waist Training Corset – not only will this fabulous garment make you feel instantly more body confident by holding you in in all the right places, supporting your back and creating enviable curves, slimming the body, but the waist training corset will also be a constant reminder to you of what you are trying to do. By wearing the waist training corset every day for a maximum of six hours per day, you will notice real results in your weight and inch loss, within 2 weeks. And of course you willlook instantly slimmer. By six weeks, you will be down to the smallest set of clasps on the corset. Check out these fantastic results by Northern Ireland television personality, Emma Louise Johnston who lost a whopping 12lbs, 3 inches and dropped two dress sizes, all by wearing her waist training corset for just six weeks!

  1. Drink more water! As you read this fascinating blog, has it occurred to you today that you are thirsty? Guess what – by the time you experience the sensation of the thirst, you are already dehydrated. That thirst is your body calling for re-hydration. There are so many benefits to drinking water, from improving your mood (yes, you, grumpy!) to preventing headaches, to making your skin glow, even preventing cancer! But for the purposes of this article, we will focus on one thing it definitely helps you do….lose weight. Sometimes we think we are hungry, when actually we are thirsty. Our body just starts turning on all the alarms when we ignore it. For those of you trying to drop some pounds and get slimmer, staying hydrated can serve as an appetite suppressant and help with weight loss. In addition, our digestive system needs water to function properly. Waste is flushed out in the form of urine and sweat. If we don’t drink water, we don’t flush out waste and it collects in our body causing a myriad of problems, including constipation!

  1. Move more! Sound hard? Not really. In fact, it is simple when you try. Make it easy for yourself to incorporate more movement into your life. Feel like you have no time in your busy day to schedule exercise? No problem. Just park further away from the door, take the stairs, stand at your desk rather than sit – heck, even take an exercise ball into work and sit on that – that will certainly help your core! Whilst moving more, you will of course be wearing your Cinch Waist Training Corset, which, when you exercise with it, speeds up results by increasing perspiration, supporting your back and losing pounds!

On days when you do have a bit more time, why not schedule power-walk with a friend (wearing our waist training corset is perfect for this activity). Or if friends are thin on the ground that day, download a good book or podcast on your smart phone, and off you go (don’t forget to set your pedometer) ! Power walking is an effective way to help manage your weight. Since it works your muscles using intense, exaggerated movement of the arms and feet, it is an efficient method for burning calories. Walking at a brisk pace of 4 mph burns anywhere from 236 to 345 calories per hour depending on your level of effort. Thus, power walking — in addition to a healthy diet – and wearing your Cinch waist training Corset- helps keep unwanted pounds at bay.

  1. Reduce sugar! The first step in this challenge involves eradicating temptation from your life! Empty the Fridge and cupboards of ALL non nutritious, sugar-laden foods! (that includes the kids treat cupboard) Stock up on a range of healthy, delicious and highly nutritious ingredients – think fresh fruits, vegetables, natural yoghurt, lean meats then set about a goal of creating a seven-day menu for your and your family of delicious meals with said ingredients – Google has endless, delicious recipes, just waiting for you to learn and create. Make them easy, so as when Wednesday comes and you have had quite enough of life, you don’t reach for the take-away menu. Snd remember to read all labels – sugar is lurking in the most innocent looking foods!

  1. Beat Stress!!!!

If you’re alive, you’ve got stress. It is everywhere we go. At home, in work, in the car, in sports. It is a natural physical and mental reaction to both good and bad experiences that can be beneficial to your health and safety.

Chronic stress can cause a variety of symptoms and can affect your overall health and well-being. When you get stressed, your body responds to stress by releasing hormones and increasing your heart and breathing rates. Your brain gets more oxygen, giving you an edge in responding to a problem. In the short term, stress helps you cope with tough situations. After the stressful event, your body should go back to normal on its own, but for many of us, it doesn’t and needs some help. If you don’t help it go back to normal, it takes a toll on your body, leading to chronic stress. Symptoms of chronic stress include irritability, anxiety, and depression. You may suffer from headaches or insomnia. Chronic stress is a factor in some behaviors like overeating or not eating enough, alcohol or drug abuse, or social withdrawal.

Unfortunately, research reveals that it’s also a fact of fat. “Even if you usually eat well and exercise, chronic high stress can prevent you from losing weight—or even add pounds,” says Pamela Peeke, MD, author of Body for Life for Women

Our adrenal glands govern our stress response, by secreting hormones relative to our stress levels. They actually help control many hormonal cycles and functions in our body. When the adrenal glands are overworked, the body prepares for disaster, by storing fat and calories. We crave foods, we lose precious energy, and we gain weight. So how can we keep the heavier stress load from equaling heavier bodies?

Stress busting tips:

  1. Have fun! Don’t forget that having fun, laughing, and enjoying your time is a very important way to relax! We all need to make having fun a priority, the benefits are amazing!
  2. Exercise – Our adrenals respond to stress, even if we think it is positive. Exercise is positive, and can help us reduce stress, but only if it does not make us feel tired. When we are exhausted, our adrenals are already working hard, and exercise can put added strain on them. The goal is to keep your heart rate under 90 beats per minute when working out. If you don’t regularly exercise, walking 15 minutes once or twice a day after meals, outside in fresh air, makes our adrenal glands, and our mind and body, very happy.
  3. Sleep better! Many people complain of being tired all day then having trouble sleeping at night. They are in an upside down sleep rhythm, which affects cortisol levels (released by stress), causing irregular sleep patterns. You can correct these by eating less food late in the day, turning off all technology including television, by 8 p.m., and by trying to be in bed and asleep by 10 p.m. The goal is to have at least eight hours of sleep, so our bodies can rest and regulate our hormonal cycles.
  4. Eat better! It may be easy to reach for sweets and caffeine for quick energy, but these actually backfire on us, dropping our blood sugar levels rapidly. Reaching for micronutrient-rich foods, such as lean protein, avocado, fresh fruits and vegetable, garlic, and ginger will more adequately support our ability to fight stress.

  1. Breath! Deep breaths in and out of your nose can not only slow your heart rate down, but will calm your entire body. Sometimes when we are under stress our breathing becomes shallow, and fast. It only takes three or four deep breaths to feel better. Try to remember that slowing down our breath, as well as our life, even for a few minutes, can make a big difference in reducing our stress level.

What body shape are you??

Apple, pear, rectangle, hourglass and strawberry? Sound like we are just shouting out random words? Not so, we are talking body shapes and how you can dress to suit compliment your shape and look absolutely fabulous…

Which Body Shape are You_

The first step to finding the right clothes to bring out your inner goddess, hot mamma, party queen or businesswoman is to figure out your specific body type so that you can play up your best features:

Work it baby!

Body shape is all about proportion, and style is all about dressing those proportions to look their very best. When you think about body types, don’t focus on height and weight… focus on shape.

A slim lady can have the same body shape as a curvy lady, just as a short woman can have the same body shape as her taller friend. And it’s not about trying to look thin; it’s about accentuating your shape and enhancing what you have so you feel your best in every outfit you own.

Each of us is unique — and our bodies are, too! Embrace your shape – don’t hide behind huge layers of fabric, accentuate, Cinch in your waist and work that shape – whether you are a classic Kate (Moss) or more of a Kimmy K (Kim Kardashian). There is a dress style for everyone to look hot this season.

Our body shapes are generally narrowed down to five general categories: pear, wedge, rectangle, apple and hourglass. You might fall into one category, or you might be a blend of two or more categories.

Once you’ve determined your body shape, you can begin to consider which fashion trends to embrace and which to avoid.

Spend some time in front of the mirror and do a fair and honest assessment of your body. Then put these fashion tips to work…

Hourglass-shaped celebs: Our very own face of Cinch Waist Training Corsets, Gemma Garrett, Beyonce (borderline Pear), Salma Hayek, Scarlett Johansson, Halle Berry

This body shape works perfectly with a waist training corset as all of your curves will be further enhanced both in the short and long-term by wearing one of these fab products.

  • Hourglass body traits: Your shoulders and hips are similar in

proportion and set off by a tiny waist.

Your best assets: Curves, curves, curves!

  • Your fashion goals: Show off your curves

Balance is the key to selecting [clothes] for an hourglass-shaped body! Keep the proportions of a fuller bust even with the proportions of fuller hips and thighs.

Search for dresses that have a fitted top half and hug your waist to avoid adding bulk. As with those who have apple-shaped bodies (see below), hourglass bodies should wear dresses with V-necks or sweetheart necklines to slim down the bust. Accessorize with belts so that the naturally smaller waist is showcased. A-line cut or wrap dresses are a perfect match for the hourglass-shaped body.

Dos and don’ts

  • Do wear a Cinch Waist Training Corset to enhance your curves even further
  • DON’T hide your curves with baggy clothing.
  • DO wear a good bra and showcase your bust.
  • DO wear fitted dresses.
  • DO wear a belt at the waist to enhance your hourglass shape.
  • DO try wrap dresses.
  • DO go for high-waisted skirts.
  • DO pick thin, lightweight styles and fabrics.
  • DO wear skinny or straight leg jeans.

When it comes to your day or night clothing choices, picking cuts that work best with your figure can make a world of difference.

Pear-shaped celebrities:

Kim Kardashian, Eva Mendes, Jennifer Love-Hewitt, Katherine Heigl

Do Slimming Corsets Work?

Centuries before we started squeezing into Spanx, women were lacing up their corsets. Now they’re back and better than ever!

Whether you want to get in shape after having a baby, or you want to lose some extra holiday pounds, waist slimming corsets have been hailed as the new (celebrity favourite) way to achieve your waist goals.

Call them what you like; a Slimming Corset, a Waist Trainer, a Cincher, the question we all really want to know is does it work? And if so, how long will it take…

The Benefits of Wearing a Slimming Corset

1. Posture: By correcting posture, corsets can alleviate back pain. Wearing a slimming corset engages the abdominal muscles helping to create a stronger core inside and more toned muscles on the outside (combining corset-wearing with core exercises will enhance this further). As proper posture takes the pressure off the neck and shoulders too, so they can also reduce the intensity of headaches and migraines for regular sufferers.

2. Work: Because of the benefits for back pain noted above, waist training corsets are often used as lumbar support during work for those whose jobs involve heavy lifting, long hours standing on their feet, or sitting in front of a computer, thereby preventing possible future back injuries (not just for women!)

3. Post-Pregnancy: For centuries, women worldwide have recognised the value of supporting the abdomen after birth to help the healing process. Nowadays, it’s size and not health that is driving celebrities like Jessica Alba to adopt the customs of their ancestors. Wearing a corset post-baby works by drawing in the stretched-out muscles and providing support and stability around the core area.

4. Weight Loss: Cinchers are technically constricting underwear (a bit like an external gastric band!) so they make eating larger meals that bit more uncomfortable and this encourages the reduction of portion sizes (great news for most of us!). Not only that, corsets discourage eating fatty meals or drinking fizzy sugared drinks which could also cause discomfort, thus changing your diet for the better! The latex material they’re made from has further weight-loss properties – helping to attack unwanted fat and impurities in the body through micro-massage while you wear it as well as the benefits of perspiration on after retention during long periods of wear or during exercise.

5. Figure Change: Corsets can change a wearer’s figure instantly (just by putting it on) and semi-permanently through changes in muscle tone, muscle memory and fat spread. Keep wearing it, and keep getting all of the benefits – simple!

How Quickly will you see Results from Waist Training? Why not take our #TwoWeekCinchChallenge

The truth is that the answer differs for each individual, dependent on their own goals, their unique body shape and genetic makeup as well as their dedication to using their corset. While it takes patience to see results from the corset cinching process, you can see an instant improvement in posture and shape (and therefore confidence!) by simply putting one on underneath your clothes. A waist-training corset makes for the best foundation wear beneath a special event outfit. The longer-term results of waist training are dependent on a number of factors, including your body’s current state and your genetic pre-disposition, the quality of your corset and its compatibility with your body, and the way you train, eat and drink while wearing it. Wearing a waist training corset coupled with a balanced diet and regular exercise should bring you the gradual reduction of your

waist size, as seen by the impressive results of our customers so far!
The results are best described as “semi-permanent”, dependent on:

Body Fat

Some people have a naturally higher body fat percentage. They may be able to cinch down up to five inches in their waist, while someone with very low body fat may only be able to lose two or three inches.

While results are purely anecdotal, it appears to be more common for mothers to be able to increase their usage more quickly and comfortably than women who have never been pregnant before. It could be because the baby has moved the woman’s organs or it could be the relaxant in the body during pregnancy that has stretched tendons and ligaments already. Or it could simply be that mothers are already accustomed to the feeling of restriction and find corsets easier to wear.

Your Corset

A well-fitting corset is not only more effective at shaping, but it’s also much more comfortable, so you’ll be encouraged to wear it longer and more often. It is also vital to invest in a quality corset. Constantly interrupting your training because you have to replace a broken corset is a waste of both your money and your time. The body responds best to consistency (that’s why it’s called “training”!)

Your Lifestyle

Adding core resistance exercise can help you see results more quickly. Eating “clean” with small, balanced meals and avoiding foods that cause bloating will also help the overall process. Getting enough fibre in your diet will help the system stay regular, again reducing bloating and allowing the corset to be well-fitted. Keeping hydrated and replacing essential minerals is also vital to upkeep

the body’s perspiration and fat detoxifying process.

How To Use a Waist Training Corset

waist training corset

It may look simple, but much of the questions around the latest celebrity must-have accessory involve how to actually use a waist training corset, when it is (and isn’t) safe to wear a slimming corset and of course we are often asked during fittings how best to wear our very own Cinch Corset and Active Range Corsets to get the best results.

So now we’ll tell you!

How To Wear a Waist Training Corset

waist training like a celebrity

The key word to remember is “trainer” – just like when you’re working out at the gym, the idea behind a waist training corset is to train the waist through regular use, and then to maintain the shape created by the slimming corset over long periods of time.

Wearing a waist training corset coupled with a balanced diet and regular exercise should bring you the gradual reduction of your waist size, as seen by the impressive results of our customer so far!

Before you begin wearing a waist training corset, check the following list of must-haves:

  • Check you don’t have a latex allergy before purchasing a Cinch waist training corset
  • Make sure you were properly measured for a safe and effective waist training corset
  • Choose the best quality waist training corset you can afford; the Cinch corset will be a valuable long-term investment!
  • Ensure your waist training corset feels comfortable but supportive and firm when you try it on (it should be tight in your core area but not affecting your breathing)
  • Follow the instructions for garment care that accompany your waist training corset

How To Use a Cinch Waist Training Corset

cinch corset like a celeb

Again, as with personal fitness, most people start a long-term program of waist training – beginning their use of their Cinch Corset at just a couple of hours per day, every day, starting on the first level of tightness in the hook fasteners.

After a week or so of regular use, you can then increase the amount of time you wear your waist training corset up to maybe 3-4 hours per day.

The aim for most people is to get to a point where it is comfortable to wear their waist training corset for 8 hours a day. And this will become easier as the waist is encouraged into shape.

In fact, many customers will report a loosening of their Cinch Corset after a few weeks – this is because the waist is training into a slimmer shape, and this is when you need to start using the additional rows of hook fastenings to get further results from your slimming corset.

When To Wear a Slimming Corset

You can choose to wear your waist training corset while working, walking, watching TV, cleaning, whatever it is that you normally do during the day or in the evening.

While wearing a waist training corset it is advised to adopt a healthy lifestyle and this will include eating more regular, but smaller meals, which will feel more comfortable with the Cinch Corset. This is yet another reason why the waist training routine works – it is a constant reminder and an encouraging factor in your daily choices.

It is also recommended to keep well hydrated while using your waist training corset as the special materials increase perspiration which also contributes to weight loss over time.

If you’re headed to the gym or doing some exercise at home, there’s no need to put the waist training corset to one side either. The Cinch slimming corsets in our new Active Range have been specifically developed in shape, material and design to enhance the core strength of a workout, improve posture, aid perspiration and ultimately increase the effectiveness of your programme.

When Not To Use a Waist Training Corset

Obviously there are times when it may not be safe for you to wear your waist training corset. Although many doctors recommend them for post-surgery recovery and indeed additional back and core support post-pregnancy, it is obviously not a good idea to wear a slimming corset while pregnant.

We would always recommend to our customers that they double-check with their GP before starting a period of wearing the waist training corset, just to be sure.

Likewise, if you feel very uncomfortable or unwell at any time wearing a waist training corset, simply remove it and seek advice from both the manufacturer and your personal health team.

The most important thing to remember is that it is a process, you are training, not immediately changing, your body shape and this takes time and patience. But as with all training, dedicated time to wearing your Cinch Corset will show you waist training results quickly, safely and discreetly.
